Just like in our school’s namesake’s painting “Arbor Day,” Grant Wood students planted trees on school grounds this morning. The Grant Wood PTA received a grant from Trees Forever to help cover the costs of the 20 trees planted with the help of Chalupsky Landscaping.
“We lost 13 trees on our campus as a result of the derecho. Several of them were trees that provided shade for our building and playgrounds,” explains Cindy Stock, principal at Grant Wood Elementary. “Our amazing PTA recognized the need to replenish this shade and applied for the Trees Forever Planting Hope grant. Today was an exciting day for our Grant Wood school community, with the help of our PTA, Trees Forever and Chalupsky‘s Nursery, we planted 20 trees on our campus!”
