Grant Wood Elementary School

Welcome to the Griffin Family: Condra Allred Named New Principal of Grant Wood Elementary

Condra Allred, Grant Wood Principal

As we prepare to celebrate Principal Cindy Stock’s remarkable career and wish her the absolute best on her upcoming retirement, we are thrilled to announce the future leadership of Grant Wood Elementary!

Following a dedicated search and interview process, Condra Allred has been selected as our new Principal, effective July 1, 2026, pending Board approval.

Energy, Heart, and Deep Roots in Education

Principal Allred is a highly respected, familiar face within the Cedar Rapids Community School District, having served as the Principal of Cleveland Elementary for the past seven years. Known for her signature "energy and heart," she focuses on creating positive, inclusive environments where both students and staff thrive.

Her extensive educational background includes:

  • 7 Years as Principal at Cleveland Elementary (CRCSD)

  • 3 Years as an Assistant Principal in Council Bluffs

  • 17 Years as a Behavior Focus Special Education Teacher at College Community School District

Commitment to education is a true family legacy for Principal Allred, who grew up in a household of teachers. Her husband, Aaron, is also a computer science teacher and activities coordinator at McKinley STEAM Academy. Together, they have two sons: Bennett, a student-athlete at the University of Minnesota Crookston, and Wilson, a junior at Prairie High School. Whether she is leading a school or cheering on her sons at a cross-country meet or baseball game, she brings an "all-in" family spirit to everything she does.

"Condra leads with heart, integrity, and a deep-seated belief in the potential of every child," shared Superintendent Dr. Lannin. "Her deep roots in our district and her passion for specialized instruction make her the perfect fit to lead Grant Wood into its next chapter."

Honoring Traditions and Looking Forward

Principal Allred is eager to officially join the Griffin family and begin collaborating with our amazing students, families, and staff.

"It is an honor to follow in the footsteps of Cindy Stock and join such a strong, established community," Principal Allred commented. "While I will deeply miss my amazing team at Cleveland, I am ready to bring that same 'energy and heart' to the students and staff at Grant Wood as we work together to build upon the culture of excellence and strong traditions Principal Stock has established."

We know Cindy Stock leaves behind big shoes to fill, but we are confident that Principal Allred’s collaborative spirit and dedication to student success make her the ideal leader to build upon our strong foundation.

Please join us in giving a warm Griffin welcome to Principal Allred, and in wishing Mrs. Stock a wonderful, well-deserved retirement! Keep an eye out for opportunities in the coming months to connect with our new Principal as we ensure a smooth transition for the 2026–2027 school year.
